Psychic ability: Able to see and talk to ghosts and make them visible for those who can't see them
Profession: Self-employed, calls herself "ghost detective"and investigates criminal cases that have to do with supernatural/paranormal phenomena

Education: Master of Science in Physics and Astronomy at Queen Mary University of London; she took a lot of classes in psychology and biology at the same university, but didn't finish any degree; internship of 6 months at the Institut für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene and the Parapsychologische Beratungsstelle in Freiburg, Germany.

(Note from the author: This is not a definite description of Sherlock, I might change a few things from time to time. Since I never lived in the UK, I'm also not quite sure if everything about her education and academical degree is right, you can correct me here if you'd like to :) .

Sherlock was named after her great-great-great-great uncle Sherlock Holmes, who was a consulting detective with extraordinary psychic abilities in the second half of 19th century London. Giving her this name wasn't just at the whim of her parents, there is more to it, which will be revealed later...
Nearly everyone in the Holmes family is bound to work for the police, the military, the government, etc. due to their psychic abilities and their martial arts training from childhood on. But of course, Sherlock here has to do it her own way: since she doesn't like to have any superiors, she rather works on her own as a so-called "ghost detective" - a job/term she herself  invented.
If Sherlock doesn't solve crimes that involve ghosts, demons and other paranormal beings, she practices her martial arts, reads books, watches films and TV shows, sleeps and eats a lot. She also learned playing the violin, but she actually hates it; she would only play it to earn some money during her time as a student.

You can read Case 1 of Sherlock Holmes Ghost Detective on Smackjeeves:

Granada Television Sherlock Holmes
Fictional characters and real persons influencing her:

BBC Sherlock HolmesSherlock Holmes - BBC and Granada version
Of course, these two shouldn't be missing when it comes to her creation. I adopted their behaviour and deduction skills on her, as far as I need it for my Sherlock.

Granada Television Irene AdlerIrene Adler
The original one by Doyle, not the BBC one, because I don't like her. Irene Adler's independent thinking and brains are important for my Sherlock Holmes.

Lady Snowblood / Yuki Kashima

Lady Snowblood/Yuki Kashima
She's an influence because of her scheming and fighting skills, but also for having her heart on the right place.

Rei Hino / Sailor Mars Rei Hino/Sailor Mars
For her being a bit of mysterious and her abilities as a Shintou shrine maiden.

My favourite Youtuber :) . I "borrowed" her looks, fashion styles and her cat spleen for Sherlock.

And there are so many more...
